Hirushi Jayasena is a Sri Lankan musical artist, actress and former media personality active in South Asian entertainment scene.
Hirushi Jayasena was born in Southend-On-Sea United Kingdom. After schooling in Colombo, She later went overseas to pursue her higher education in Medical studies and Psychology in the United States. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Sciences from University of Central Florida, and pursued her summer internships at Harvard University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration.
Although her own debut single was recorded in 2018, her contribution to Sri Lankan cinematic music dates back to 2016 with her first playback song "Heenen Awidinna [5] " the signature song of the film Maya 3D starring Pubudu Chathuranga and Ranjan Ramanayake. Hirushi’s independent music career officially started in 2018 with her debut single “Hanguman”, produced by musical artist Pasan Liyanage, written by Malini Liyanage, and starring opposite Hemal Ranasinghe in her official music video. Her subsequent productions include “Horu” featuring Ranidu Lankage and Killer B in 2019, and “Kirula” featuring Bachi in 2020, both produced by Pasan Liyanage. She received her exposure in the mass music market after her vocal and visual feature in the song “Kathirina” featuring Malindu, produced by Iraj Weeraratne. All her latest tracks including “Horu”, “Kirula” and “Hanguman” received its exclusive feature on BBC Asian Network, out of which “Horu” became the track on the week in 2019. Hirushi also joined the local Rap scene in the recent 2020’s with musical projects such as “Patriots of Humanity” produced by Achala (Mr. A) featuring veteran musicians such as Chitral Somapala, Natasha Rathnayake, Suresh De Silva and Tennyson Napoleon of Stigmata. This experiment further continued with “Viruwan Obai” produced by Rapzilla and “Diriya” produced by Pasan Liyanage. Her musical experiment in English was showcased with her single “No Temptations” which was exclusively featured on Yes FM Sri Lanka. In terms of her international productions, she is currently pursuing her projects with the Hindi and Kannada music industries with “Meri Zindagi”, produced by Pavan Maligi featuring Bollywood sensation Shaan (Shantanu Mukherjee).
